There is no need to treat reclaimed teak bowls, plates or teak root furniture items. However, if you wanted to enhance the natural colour and grain then we would recommend applying a small amount of coconut oil using a clean cloth.  

The wood in the teak root tables will acclimatise to the environment that it is in. This means that when placed into a warm and dry and environment further drying will occur to the wood and may result in some grains opening up and cracks appearing. This is natural movement and rarely affects the structural integrity of the table. Using coconut oil on teak root tables aids to maintain moisture in the wood and help limit any such movement.  

Reclaimed teak furniture does not require any specific treatment, however you may wish to apply a light treatment to protect against spills. Always read the manufactures label for application of a treatment and test in a small nonvisible area first. Heat protection mats should be used at all times to prevent marking.

If you do choose to treat your chopping board, we would recommend using coconut oil. This can be purchased at most supermarkets and you simply melt in a microwave and apply a small amount using a clean cloth. 

If you have a chosen a natural product, such as reclaimed wood and teak from Field & Hawken then we believe that you have made a fantastic decision, but we would like to remind you that as a natural product the look of them will vary from the images online with no two items the same.

This means that natural markings and openings in the grain are all part of their natural beauty and structure. It also means that the product will change over time depending upon usage, care and the natural aging process of the wood.

Our products all go through a quality check process before they are despatched to ensure that they meet our high standards for our customers and that any markings or cracks are not deemed to be detrimental to the structural integrity of the item.

If you have ordered from one of our interior ranges where each item has a unique shape and characteristic then within 24 hours of order receipt, we will send you an email with access to images of the products available so that you can choose the piece that is right for you.

These ranges will include teak root tables, teak root bowls, teak root candle bowls, teak root candle holders and teak chopping boards.

Once you have confirmed your preference then your order will be prepared and despatched. Please note that until your preference has been received then a specific item is not reserved and may have been sent to other customers at the same time.
